Birthdays & Anniversaries for Friday

Finally Friday is here!  We'll run through the names of listeners celebrating here on August 22nd, after a quick glance at some of the events that have happened on this date in Country Music history.

1957- Singer/songwriter Holly Dunn is born in San Antonio.  She won the Country Music Association's Horizon Award, in 1987 and joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1989.

1960- Floyd Collin Wraye is born in DeQueen, Arkansas.  We know him better under his stage name of Collin Raye.  His hits include, "Little Rock", "That's My Story", "One Boy, One Girl" and "Love Me".

1968- Tammy Wynette and George Jones announce their marriage, but it doesn't actually take place for another six months.

1983- Singer Crystal Gayle and her husband/manager, Bill Gatzimos, welcome their first child, Katherine Claire Gatzimos, at a hospital in Nashville.

1998- Phil Vassar's song, "I'm Alright", recorded by Jo Dee Messina, is #1 on Billboard's country chart.

2011- Jason Aldean's "Tattoos On The Town", is released to country radio on Broken Bow Records.
