Birthdays And Anniversaries For September 23rd + National Great American Pot Pie Day

If it's your birthday today congratulations!  You share the same date as Ray Charles.  Ray was most famous for his work in jazz and rhythm & blues, but he brought a lot of attention to country music in the early 1960s when he recorded his classic album "Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music" and in the 1980s when he recorded his iconic hit, "Seven Spanish Angels", with Willie Nelson.   It's National Great American Pot Pie Day!

This "unofficial" national holiday, was the inspiration of the pot pie and frozen food company, Marie Callender's, and was created in 2002.  Don't you love her for that?

When it comes to the filling of a pot pie, the ingredients can vary from beef, chicken or turkey, gravy and of course, potatoes, carrots, green beans or peas.  To my way of thinking, the best part of a pot pie is that flaky bottom and top crust.  Bake it up savory and delicious and you've got one great meal.

Why not enjoy one or two today and celebrate.
