Best wishes to you if you are celebrating today.  60 years ago tonight, Elvis Presley plays "The Louisiana Hayride" for the first time.  He performs the songs, "That's All Right" and "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", two times each.   Drummer D.J. Fontana, plays with Elvis for the first time, although he is forced to play behind a curtain.  It's National Boss's Day!

This is the day that gives you the chance to tell and show the boss what you really think of her or him.  It's and opportunity to express the appreciation that he or she truly  deserves.  So don't hold back.  Go ahead and give it to him or her.  Remember, this day only comes around once a year.

The origin of Boss's Day goes back to 1958.  That's when Patricia Bays Haroski, working as a secretary for State Farm Insurance Company in Deerfield, Illinois, registered "National Boss' Day" with the United States Chamber of Commerce.  October 16th was picked because it was her father's birthday and she was working for him at the time.  This made her father, her boss.

In 1979, those nice folks at Hallmark Cards introduced Boss' Day cards and now you know, the rest of the story.
