Birthdays And Anniversaries For January 6th + National Bean Day

If you are celebrating on this first Tuesday of 2015, congratulations.  Here are a couple of country music events for this date.  1957 - Elvis Presley makes his final appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show," singing seven songs: "Hound Dog," "Love Me Tender," "When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again," "Heartbreak Hotel," "Peace In The Valley," "Too Much" and "Don't Be Cruel".  1990 - Sawyer Brown lead singer Mark Miller marries makeup artist Lisa Knight, the sister of former "Brady Bunch" star Christopher Knight, in Los Angeles.   

It's National Bean Day! 

This day is all about the bean vegetable in all sizes, shapes and colors.  Green, red, dark red, kidney, lima, and soy are just a few of the different kinds of beans that are available to enjoy on this day.  There are about 40,000 bean varieties found in the world but only a fraction are mass-produced for regular consumption.

Beans are one of the longest cultivated plants, dating back to the early 7th millennium BCE.  They continue to be an important source of protein as well as a great source of fiber.

So today, eat your beans and have a healthy celebration.
