Singer-songwriter and Waylon Jennings mentee Tommy Townsend released a solo project in July of 2018, and now, he's got a music video for one of his songs to share exclusively with The Boot's readers. Press play above to watch Townsend's "Drinkin'" music video.

Townsend's "Drinkin'" music video follows his night at a bar as two women walk into -- and out of -- his life. Throughout the clip, the glasses on the bar grow in number as Townsend sings, the evening unfolding around him.

"Drinkin'" is the product of country music royalty: Written by Holly Williams (granddaughter of Hank Williams and daughter of Hank Williams Jr.), the song is one of seven on Townsend's 2018 solo album, Turn Back the Clock. Shooter Jennings (son of Waylon Jennings and wife Jessi Colter) produced the project, which was released on the younger Jennings' Black Country Rock label.

A native of Blairsville, Ga., Townsend first met Waylon Jennings following the country icon's performance at a local fair; he first discovered Jennings' music from his Ol' Waylon album, and he and his parents worked their way backstage to meet his idol. Jennings became something of a mentor to Townsend, and the two occasionally collaborated and toured together.

Townsend spent time in a duo, Townsend O'Donnell, then joined Waymore's Outlaws -- a band comprised of five of Jennings' original touring and recording musicians -- as the lead singer in 2008. The band sings Jennings covers and original material, and has toured with Shooter Jennings, both opening for him and backing him during his performances.
