Thomas Rhett Debuts Tear-Jerking New Song ‘Remember You Young’ [Listen]
Thomas Rhett has debuted an emotional song sure to tug at your heartstrings, "Remember You Young." The song comes on New Music Friday on April 19, a new song off of his upcoming album, Center Point Road.
The song pays lyrical tribute to scenes from his past, as well as his daughters, Willa Gray and Ada James.
"Hey babies, crawlin’ on the carpet / No, you won’t be that little for long / One day you’ll move away but you’re still gonna stay / This innocent after you’re gone," Rhett sings in an earnest, emotional vocal performance.
Rhett shared images of his two little girls on his Facebook page, accompanied by lyrics from the song to tease "Remember You Young" before its release.
The album title Center Point Road derives from the name of a street in Rhett's hometown of Hendersonville, Tenn. The Nashville suburb shaped the earliest part of his life. Rhett says the new album is all about his life growing up.
"First dates, first football games, first heartbreak, first kisses, success and failures. I really feel like that road shaped who I am today, and it felt fitting because the record, for the most part, is pretty nostalgic," he states. "Songs like 'Almost," 'That Old Truck' and especially 'Center Point Road,' really describe who I was as a kid and teenager, and who I’ve become as an adult."
Rhett co-produced the album once again with Dann Huff, Jesse Frasure and Julian Bunetta, but this time he also co-wrote all 16 songs of the album — a first for him. "On this one, I just got back to why I wanted to make music in the first place — and that was writing great songs," he explains. "This is one of those records that every time I listen back to it, it still feels new."
Rhett released "Look What God Gave Her" as the first single from Center Point Road in late February. He performed the song at the 2019 ACM Awards on April 7, where he also took home Male Artist of the Year honors.
