Thomas Rhett Takes 2018 CMA Awards to School With ‘Life Changes’ Performance
Rhett began his entertaining performance seated in a fun set of a college dorm, just as the song lyrics begin. He jumped up to join his band and a horn section on the stage of the Bridgestone Arena, delivering a unique and energetic performance of his hit single.
The song addresses the changes that have come to his life since getting out of college, marrying his wife Lauren and welcoming two daughters.
"Ain't it funny how life changes / You wake up, ain't nothing the same and life changes / You can't stop it, just hop on the train and / You never know what's gonna happen / You make your plans and you hear god laughing / Life changes, and I wouldn't change it for the world," he sang.
Rhett and Lauren adopted their first daughter, Willa Gray, from Uganda in May of 2017, and by the time they brought her home, they found out she was also pregnant. They welcomed their second daughter, Ada James, in August of 2017. He says they will probably adopt again.
"Lauren wants to have five kids before she turns 34. That is her plan," Rhett tells Access Online. "So you can probably expect three new babies in the next five years. She's the boss."
Rhett was nominated for Male Vocalist, Album and Music Video of the Year in the 2018 CMA Awards.
