Thomas Rhett kicked off the new year with a special thank you to his loyal fans. The country superstar dropped a new video on Dec. 31 for a track titled "American Spirit," paying tribute to hard-working Americans all across the U.S.

"American Spirit" is one of the new tracks that appears exclusively on the deluxe edition of Rhett's smash sophomore album, Tangled Up, and it's a reflective, acoustic tune. Rhett felt drawn to the simple feel of the song from the start, and he thought it was the perfect way to thank his fans for their support.

"'American Spirit' is one of my favorite songs to sit down and play on an acoustic guitar,” Rhett says (quote via Sounds Like Nashville). “So, I knew I wanted to make a video for it…just to share with our fans. I knew I wanted it to be simple and something that would pull on the heartstrings and I think it’s the perfect blend of that.”

The "American Spirit" video intersperses shots from Rhett's concerts with footage of the simple life from all across the country, reinforcing the contemplative nature of the lyrics, which reflect on the simple pleasures of living in the United States of America.

Rhett closed out 2016 on a high note, performing live on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest and then sharing a kiss with his wife at the stroke of midnight.

He's already got huge plans for 2017. Rhett will hit the road for his first headlining tour, the Home Team Tour, along with Kelsea Ballerini, Ryan Hurd and Russell Dickerson, beginning Feb. 23 and continuing through March before wrapping with two shows in Nashville. He's also been announced as one of the headliners for Country Jam 2017 in Colorado in June, where he'll join Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Justin Moore and Randy Houser.
