The Man’s Guide-Top 5 Tips To Dating A Texas Girl
Being a happily married man who moved to Texas from the Midwest almost two years ago, I've had the pleasure of meeting and making friends with a lot of new people in my hometown. Some of them are single ladies, who don't mind sharing their stories and adventures when it comes to the dating world these days. It's so different than when I was single-with all the apps that are out there now; some the girls choose the man, some the other way around. But there are a few things I've come to know for sure when it comes to the women here in Texas-they don't mess around, they mean business, and they can spot a fool from 5 miles away. So guys-here are some tips, based on what I've heard from the source themselves, to help you be successful:
1. BE REAL AND GENUINE
Pickup lines, acting cocky or arrogant, playing games... Maybe somewhere else. Not with a Texas girl. She'll walk away from you faster than you can say Urban Cowboy if you approach with that nonsense. Just be you and talk to her.
2. YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED AT HER CHOICE OF BEVERAGE
She may look like a delicate flower who would only like a fine glass of Pinot Grigio-but the reality is she may be able to drink you under the table with the bar's best bottle of bourbon. Assume nothing, and roll with the flow.
3. SALADS ARE GREAT... TO START WITH
When out to dinner, don't be surprised if your Texas girl orders a steak as big as yours. She's worked as hard as you have all day-and she's hungry too. Rabbit food is a starter, not her main course.
4. MANNERS ARE A LOST ART. SHOW HER YOU'RE A GENTLEMAN.
Open her car door, open the door to the theater and the restaurant, pull her chair out for her at the table... Chivalry isn't completely dead--show her she's special and with a guy who sees that.
5. CHANCES ARE SHE KNOWS MORE ABOUT FOOTBALL THAN YOU DO
NFL, Fantasy... Trades, Position Players, Quarterbacks, Wins/Losses... It's all fair game. And your Texas girl knows them all. Be ready!
