The Highwomen Team Up With Jimmy Fallon For Acoustic Rendition of ‘The Chain’
The Highwomen teamed up with Jimmy Fallon to create an acoustic rendition of Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain."
The group was on Fallon's show earlier this month to perform their new anthem, "Redesigning Women." Fallon later released the "backstage acoustic" video segment.
The video was shot with each member, Fallon, and the guitar player in a circle with the camera panning around to every person individually in a circle. Their harmonies rang out in perfect synchronicity. Member Amanda Shires then surprisingly pulled out a violin to join in with the guitar.
The supergroup, consisting of of Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, Shires and Natalie Hemby, created the cover of "The Chain" for the new movie, The Kitchen. The film is a thriller with three female lead actors starring in it—Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elisabeth Moss.
The Highwomen will release their debut self-titled album on Sept. 6. "Redesigning Women" acts as the first single for the group, which was followed by "Crowded Table," which will be featured on their upcoming album.
Their album will be released via Low Country Sound and Elektra Records, which is under Warner Music Group, and is Carlile's label for her solo artist work. The album will feature 12 new songs, with each of the members co-writing some of the tracks. The album was produced by Nashville's own Dave Cobb, who's worked with Carlile, Morris and Shires previously.
Fans who pre-order an album bundle will have $4 of their purchase donated to the non-profit organization, She Is Music.
