Taylor Swift's 'Lover' Video Is Whimsical, Colorful and Romantic

Taylor Swift's "Lover" video tugs at the heartstrings in the happiest of ways.

The title track of her album is a romantic vintage ballad, and the visual brings the same feeling of nostalgia and love. The aesthetics include both current and retro fashion and prop pieces, and the color scheme is on par with everything she's shared from her Lover album, out Friday (Aug. 23).

But it's the story that unfolds in the "Lover" video that will grab you, as it seems to mirror (or so we guess) her longterm relationship with boyfriend Joe Alwyn. The once-country, now-pop star co-directed the music video with Drew Kirsch, who also directed her music video for "You Need to Calm Down."

The "Lover" video opens with with a little girl staring into a Christmas snow globe. inside it is a house — a dollhouse — with differently colored rooms that come to life when Swift shows up with male lead Christian Owens, who is her tour dancer, playing her love interest. Each room's color fits with their mood and what's happening in their relationship as we follow their story. There's a blue bathroom, which feels just as blue as the pair swim in a fishbowl. There's a pink bedroom, where love happens — note the hearts on their comforter.

Swift plays a variety of instruments around the home, including drums, violin, guitar and piano. But the sweetest moment of the video comes at the end, when the camera pulls back to reveal that the little girl who opens the snow globe as a Christmas gift is the daughter of the couple, Swift and Owens.

Swift's seventh studio album, Lover, will debut in full on Friday (August 23).
