In a trial that lasted only one day, a federal jury has convicted Jesse Huerra, 31, of San Angelo. Huerra, was found guilty on one count each of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine; possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime; as well as being a convicted felon in possession of firearms.

Because Huerra has two previous “felony drug offenses,”  the government filed a notice of enhancement. That means, if the Court finds those convictions are final and valid, then, by statute, the Court must impose a life sentence without parole as to the methamphetamine count.

Huerra has been held in custody since his arrest on July 13, 2016.

The trail was heard before Senior U.S. District Judge, Sam R. Cummings.

No sentencing date has been set.
