POLL: Who Should Win Musician of the Year at the 2018 CMA Awards?
The 2018 CMA Awards will take place on Nov. 14, but before the all-star party at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena for the 52nd annual event, The Boot wants to know who our readers think will go home with the awards in each of the show's 12 categories. The list of nominees for Musician of the Year at the 2018 CMA Awards is an exact replica of 2017's list. This year, Jerry Douglas has earned his fifth consecutive nomination in the category -- and the dobro legend might be overdue for a win. Paul Franklin, meanwhile, returns to the nominees lineup for the fourth year in a row; the steel guitar king's resume includes performances with Alan Jackson and Megadeth, among many others.
The 2016 CMA Musician of the Year Dann Huff is back in the lineup thanks to his legendary guitar work, as is 2017's winner, Mac McAnally, a prolific songwriter and part of Jimmy Buffett's band, the Coral Reefers. The category's final nominee, Derek Wells, is nominated for a third consecutive year; he has contributed to albums for stars such as Chris Janson, Jana Kramer, Brett Eldredge, Maddie & Tae and more.
