Lauren Alaina to Compete on ‘Dancing With the Stars’
Lauren Alaina will be showing off her fancy footwork on television this fall. The country star is part of the cast for Season 28 of the TV competition series Dancing With the Stars.
DWTS' newest class of competitors was revealed on Wednesday morning (Aug. 21) on Good Morning America. The show pairs celebrities with professional dancers, with the pairings competition in an elimination-style competition until a winner is crowned at the end of the season. Judges' and viewers' votes determine who stays and who goes after each round of dances.
In addition to Alaina, the celebrities competing during Season 28 of Dancing With the Stars are actors James Van Der Beek and Kate Flannery, Queer Eye cast member Karamo Brown, former Bachelorette contestant Hannah Brown, supermodel Christie Brinkley, singers Ally Brooke (formerly of Fifth Harmony) and Mary Wilson (of the Supremes), ex-NFL player Ray Lewis, NBA player Lamar Odom, comedian Kel Mitchell and Sean Spicer, the former White House press secretary.
Season 28's dance pros are returning dancers Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Sasha Farber, Alan Bersten, Brandon Armstrong, Gleb Savchenko, Keo Motsepe, Witney Carson, Peta Murgatroyd, Lindsay Arnold, Jenna Johnson, Emma Slater and Cheryl Burke, along with two newcomers, Daniella Karagach and Pasha Pashkov. The celebrity-pro dancer pairings will not be revealed until the show's season premiere, which is set for Sept. 16.
Alaina is far from the first country artist to compete on Dancing With the Stars. Kellie Pickler won the show back in 2013, while country radio DJ Bobby Bones won the show's 27th season in 2018. Wynonna Judd, Chuck Wicks, Sara Evans, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Jana Kramer also previously competed on the show.
Dancing With the Stars airs weekly on ABC.
