In the 1976 film version of A Star Is Born, Barbra Streisand plays the aspiring entertainer portrayed in past years by Janet Gaynor (1937) and Judy Garland (1954), and more recently by Lady Gaga (2018). Although the newest movie version of A Star Is Born highlights the music of Jason IsbellLukas Nelson and more, the Streisand version offers the best perk for country music fans: a co-starring role for one of America's greatest storytellers and songwriters, Kris Kristofferson.

To celebrate her place in the A Star Is Born lineage, Streisand surprised the Sunday night (July 7) crowd at British Summer Time in London's Hyde Park with a guest appearance by Kristofferson. Together, the former co-stars revisited "Lost Inside of You," their famous duet. Readers can press play above to watch.

Streisand and the late Leon Russell co-wrote "Lost Inside of You" for the film's soundtrack. It's not exactly the "Shallow" of its time, as that honor goes to the theme song "Evergreen," a Grammy-, Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning hit co-penned by Streisand and Paul Williams. A live version of "Evergreen" preceded Kristofferson's guest appearance during Streisand's British Summer Time performance.

The 1976 version of A Star Is Born further legitimized Kristofferson's acting career. The 83-year-old multimedia star made a name for himself in the music-driven Western Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1971), and continued his big-screen career as recently as Ethan Hawke's Blaze Foley biopic, Blaze (2018).
