Texas Woman Drives Through Tornado in Viral Video

Living in Texas means learning to deal with all kinds of wild weather. Giant hail? Sure. Dust storms? Absolutely. Tornadoes? Unfortunately, yes.

As someone living out in El Paso, I’ve honestly considered myself pretty lucky. Most of my tornado knowledge comes from watching Twister and immediately deciding I never wanted to experience that in real life.

Well, one Texas woman basically lived through her own highway version of the movie- and somehow captured the terrifying moment on video.

Texas Woman Shares Terrifying Tornado Highway Video

Amanda Marie from Placedo, Texas, shared dashcam footage on TikTok showing the moment an ordinary drive suddenly turned dangerous.

At first, the video just shows dark storm clouds and lightning in the distance. Then things escalate fast.

Heavy rain, hail, and powerful winds suddenly surround her vehicle, making it nearly impossible to see the road ahead.

Amanda later shared in the comments that there was never a tornado warning issued before conditions became severe.

She explained she was afraid to stop because visibility was so bad and she worried another driver could hit her from behind. At one point, she appears to pull off into a grassy area while the storm rages around her. Amanda later said the winds were so strong it felt like her vehicle wanted to lift and flip.

Some said getting unexpectedly caught in severe weather is practically a Texas rite of passage, while others admitted the footage showed one of their biggest fears while driving!

A few viewers joked that the only real Texas survival strategy is turning on your hazard lights and hoping for the best. That feels pretty accurate.

Texas weather can turn dangerous fast, and this viral video is proof of that.

One minute you’re driving down the highway like normal, and the next minute you’re starring in your own tornado survival story on TikTok.
