Crime happens everywhere. Even though car theft is common most people think it won't happen to them. So many people leave their car doors unlocked, or leave them on while they run into the store real quick. Texas has a high rate of car theft and even though any car has the chance of being stolen, there are a specific few that get targeted the most. Is your vehicle on the list?

5. TOYOTA CAMRY

Considering how many I see on the road, I was surprised to see a Camry come in at number 5. The most frequent model year stolen for the Camry is 2007.

4. HONDA ACCORD

The Honda Accord at number 4 did not surprise me, but the model year stolen did. Most Accord's stolen were the model year 1997.

3. HONDA CIVIC

I love Honda Civic's but not enough to steal one. The most frequent stolen is a 2000 model. Being a car enthusiast, this year makes perfect sense. If you know you know!

2. FORD PICKUP

Being in the Permian Basin I can understand the high numbers of a Ford Pickup. Half of the oilfield workers drive Ford trucks.  The 2006 model year is the most frequently stolen.

1. CHEVY PICKUP

Even though this truck is common in the oilfield, it is even more common throughout the state.  The model year 2007 is the most frequently stolen.

I noticed that most of the cars stolen were older models. With technology now, I'm sure it gets harder and harder to steal modern vehicles. How about Texans do their part to lessen the numbers, let's at least start locking our car doors.
