Honoring City Councilman Dan Corrales
The City of Midland Texas is grieving the sudden passing of Midland at large city Councilman Dan Corrales. Mr. Corrales passed away Monday January 29th, 2024 at the age of 45.
Dan Corrales was not only a Councilman he was an attorney currently serving as Midland Assistant District Attorney, but he was also a father, husband, army veteran, and had served on the Midland City Council in the At Large Position since Jan. 1, 2022, and had recently taken a position with the Midland County District Attorney’s Office as Assistant District Attorney.
Councilman Corrales served on numerous nonprofits, including Bynum School, The Rotary Club, Lions Club, Meals on Wheels and Midland Community Theatre."
Corrales was a Midland High graduate and attended Midland College before moving to Brooklyn, New York, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business and attended law school.
Corrales is survived by his wife, Michelle; and son, Elijah; and Michelle’s niece, Austin; who the couple also raised.
The City of Midland did provide the following statement, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Councilman Corrales. His contributions to our community were invaluable, and he will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the entire City of Midland during this time of sorrow.
Governor Greg Abbot allowed flags to fly at half-staff for late City Councilman Dan Corrales through Friday February 9th, 2024, there was also a candlelight Vigil held Friday February 2nd at the First Baptist Church at 6pm to honor Councilman Corrales
Corrales viewing will be held Tuesday February 6th at Nalley Pickle Funeral Home in Midland from 8am - 9pm with his funeral to be held Wednesday February 7th at 2pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Midland.
