Price Changing Rumors Prompt Another Response From Walmart
(KMDL-FM) Those of us who skimmed Shakespeare during our high school days might still remember a quote from Hamlet: "The lady doth protest too much, methinks". What the bard is saying is that someone who spends a lot of time denying something might be overcompensating for a "discrepancy" in what the actual truth might be.

We are certainly not casting any accusations at the world's largest retailer, Walmart, in regard to claims and yet another response that the giant retailer is using technology to manipulate prices on a personal level.
What Did Walmart Do To Its Price Tags That Has So Many People Upset?
A few months back, we told you that Walmart was moving away from traditional price tags on store shelves to digital electronic shelf tags. These tags would allow the store to make price changes more efficiently; in fact, it could be done in a matter of seconds. That's where the controversy has come in.
Some are suggesting, without substantiated proof we should add, that Walmart is adjusting prices based on product availability and demand and is actually changing the price of the product between the time the consumer picks it up from the shelf and brings it to the checkout counter.

Another unsubstantiated claim is that Walmart is using personal data collected from your purchases to price the item specifically for you. In other words, if your address is from "the rich part of town," then you might pay a little more because the store thinks you can afford to pay more.

Despite what you may have seen on TikTok, none of those claims have been substantiated, and Walmart has again denied even thinking about treating you, their valued customers, that way.
You can read Walmart's response to the allegations here. I love the phrase, We Price the Product, not the person. Whether it's true or not, it really sounds good, don't you think?
Shoppers Love New "Find It" Feature With Electronic Shelf Tags at Walmart
If there is one true benefit of the new digital shelf tags at Walmart, it would have to be the Shop to Light feature that is available in the Walmart App. If you don't know where to look for a product in the store, you input the details on the App. The App then locates the corresponding price tag and begins flashing an LED light to draw your attention.
