Texas Is a Top State for Singles but Also Hates Valentine’s
Let's face it, we are living in a time where money is tight in Texas and across the country. When a holiday rolls around, like Valentine's Day, it gets expensive. Have you seen how much flowers cost these days? It may actually explain why Texas is one of the best states for singles and also ranks near the top for being anti-Valentine’s Day.
Texas Ranked #3 Best State for Singles in 2026
Let's look at being single in Texas. A WalletHub study showed that Texas ranks #3 in the country as the spot for singles. The ranking largely comes down to how easy it is to find places to go out.
Texas Leads the Nation in Restaurants and Date Night Spots
Rankings include:
- 1st – restaurants per capita
- 1st – movie theaters per capita
- 9th – median household income (adjusted for cost of living)
- 13th – online dating opportunities
- 30th – % of single adults
So there are plenty of places to go on a date, and most people have the income to afford to take someone on a date. The online dating scene is decent, and the dating pool is fairly large.
With Texas being one of the best for singles, it stands to reason why they would be on top for not loving Valentine's Day. Let's look at it. If you’re single, do you really want to spend money on Valentine’s Day for someone you barely know?
