From Fighter Jets to Scholarships: What Makes This Texas Air Show So Special
You’ll find one of the best air shows in the United States right here in Texas.
I love air shows. I’ve been going to them since I was in the Navy back in the 90s. They’re the perfect event for us military enthusiasts.
For me, everything about air shows is awesome. I love to get up close and personal with the aircraft. I find fighter jets to be particularly fascinating.

And the demonstrations are breathtaking. It takes a ton of guts and skill to do what those pilots do. They must have ice water flowing through their veins, because I get anxious just watching them do their thing.
I regularly attend the air show at Sheppard Air Force Base here locally. However, there are still many air shows I have yet to attend – including the Wings Over Houston Air Show, which was recently voted the Number 3 best air show in the most recent USA Today Readers’ Choice Awards.
The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Wings Over Houston is a non-profit event, with proceeds going towards scholarships for students who are interested in aviation careers. It happens every October at Ellington Airport. The air show is scheduled for October 18 – 19 this year.
The show will feature the USAF Thunderbirds as well as demonstrations by the CAF WWII Warbirds and Tora! Tora! Tora! Get more information on their official website.
