
Turns Out Texas Really Doesn’t Like Valentine’s Day
Wow. Texas really hates Valentine’s Day. It’s so bad that we’re among the 10 states that hate it the most.
To be perfectly honest with you, I’m kind of neutral when it comes to Valentine’s Day. Not to take the high road or anything, but I could take it or leave it. However, I’m a big fan of Reece’s Miniatures, which my wife almost always gifts me on Valentine's Day, so there’s that.

But that’s the thing that I think makes many people (single or in a relationship) hate Valentine’s Day. People hate it when they feel obligated to spend money – especially if they’re on a tight budget. According to WalletHub, 82% of Americans believe it’s a trick to get people to spend money. I can’t say that I disagree with that.
That said, I don’t hate Valentine’s Day. It helps that both my wife and I are pretty easy to please. We’ve never been the type to go all-out and shower each other with lavish gifts for any occasion. So, if I were with someone who expected expensive jewelry every Valentine’s Day, I would probably feel much different.
Now, I’m not sure if that’s why so many folks here in Texas hate Valentine’s Day, but I’ll be quick to admit that there’s no shortage of high-maintenance partners in this part of the country. So, maybe that’s why Texas was ranked the 7th most anti-Valentine's Day state in a study conducted by Hard Rock Bet.
