I don’t know about you, but when I’m in the mood to eat out, I almost always go for something locally owned. Don’t get me wrong – there are plenty of great national chain restaurants, but for my money, the best of the best are always locally owned. 

So, when I saw that Cheapism had listed the best family-owned restaurant in each state, I was quick to click into the article. The result for Texas wasn’t in the least bit surprising to me. The best part for those of us who live here in North Texas is that the best in the Lone Star State is right down the road.

The thing that immediately stuck out to me was the atmosphere on the patio, which is almost as legendary as their food. Even though it was the middle of August, it was nice and cool out there. The chips, salsa, and queso were outstanding, and the chicken flautas were top-notch. I highly recommend you give them a try the next time in or around the Stockyards.
