We're still over a month away from Easter, but the stores have already started stocking their shelves with Easter candy to fill baskets - or just to take home and munch on, no judgement here...But the surprising thing for me isn't the timing of candy. It's the flavors of it. Specifically, the new Peeps flavors that I saw.

Peeps: The Staple of Easter Candy

We've all had those Peeps candies. They're the marshmallow blobs, coated in sugar, with a weird texture. As far as common Easter candy, they're right up there with Cadbury Creme Eggs and Chocolate Bunnies. As a kid, I loved them. Now, they're just a bit rich for my taste. Usually, you see the ones that are shaped like little chicks - hence, the name, "Peeps".

Now, they also come in bunny shapes, kind of getting even more into the Easter theme. But the bunnies have the same marshmallow and sugar flavor as the originals. They may come in different colors, but the flavors were the same. This year, as I discovered, the Peeps people have added some new flavors.

New Flavors of Peeps on Shelves Now

In my opinion, the new flavors of Peeps are...interesting. When I think of new flavors, I think of simple ideas - chocolate, strawberry, peppermint - things like that. Simple was not what the creators went for this year.

The flavors that I came across were Dr Pepper, Butterbeer (inspired by the Harry Potter series), Rice Krispies Treats, and Pop-tarts Frosted Strawberry. Keep in mind, I haven't tried these. They might be great. But, like I said, they look interesting...Here, take a look for yourself:
