As Halloween approaches, folks in Texas are gearing up for the spooktacular event with decorations and party planning. Of course with any party, you must know what drinks you'll serve.

Many of these recipes were inspired by Delish, Food Network, All Recipes, and Drink Mixer but I have tweaked each just a bit to give the most out of your Halloween concoction. I have mixed and tasted each of these through the years and each proved to be tasty, even the Candy Corn recipe.

Axe Murderer

  • 1 oz. Amaretto
  • 1 oz. Gin
  • 1 oz. White Rum
  • 1 oz. Southern Comfort
  • 1 oz. White Tequila
  • 1 oz. Triple Sec
  • 1 oz. Vodka

Witches Brew

  • 2 oz Pineapple juice
  • 2 oz 7-Up or Sprite
  • 2 oz Coconut Rum

Mix cranberry juice, pineapple juice, and lemon-lime soda in a highball glass. Then pour a shot of coconut rum down the side of the glass before drinking. Think of it as kind of a Jagerbomb without the Jager...or the bomb.

The Bone

  • 2 oz. bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon simple syrup (made with equal parts sugar and water)
  • 3 dashes of Tabasco sauce

Mix all ingredients into a shaker, then strain into a chilled tall shot glass. If you want to really live on the edge, dump about 5 extra drops of Tabasco sauce in it.

Brain Hemorrhage

  • 1/2 - 3/4 oz. Peach Schnapps
  • 1-2 Tablespoons of Baileys
  • 1 tsp of grenadine

If you're looking for a drink that doesn't have much of a bite but looks cool when you make it, check out this simple recipe. Pour Peach Schnapps in shot glass. Float Baileys on top. Drop grenadine through Baileys and serve.

Satan's Whiskers

  • ½ oz gin
  • ½ oz sweet vermouth
  • ½ oz dry vermouth
  • ½ oz fresh orange juice
  • 2 tsp orange curaçao (curled) or Grand Marnier (straight)
  • 1 tsp orange bitters

Shake well with ice and strain into an iced cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist. Then actually do "the twist".

Candy Corn

  • 1/2 shot 100 proof vodka
  • 1/4 shot of sweet and sour mix
  • 1 splash of concentrated orange juice
  • 1 splash club soda
  • 1 dash grenadine syrup

Mix vodka, sweet and sour, etc. in that order. It naturally sets up a base for the grenadine to float through like a ghost. The grenadine dash should top off the shot glass and filter down, leaving no grenadine on top. Tapping the shot while steadying the top of the glass helps this. Then you have a drink that resembles the popular Halloween candy, although much tastier.
