Texas Official Urges Governor for Fuel Tax Relief Now!
As fuel prices continue to climb, a top Texas official is calling for immediate action to ease the burden on families across the state.

Sid Miller Calls for Action
I think Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller came up with a great idea by asking and urging our Governor Greg Abbott to temporarily suspend the state’s motor fuel tax, saying high gas and diesel prices are hitting working Texans hard.
Commissioner Miller said, "Every extra dollar spent at the pump is money families can’t use for groceries, bills, or everyday needs." Plus, he’s pushing for immediate action instead of waiting.
Texas Drivers Feeling the Pinch
I can tell you firsthand, every time I pull up to the pump in the station truck, it’s a bit of a shock. I don’t remember seeing prices this high here in Texas in forever.
And when I take my personal diesel truck out, it’s even tougher, topping over $5 a gallon. That’s gotten me planning every trip carefully, making sure I handle everything in one run instead of driving all over town.
Here in Texas, that matters. We’re a state full of farmers, ranchers, and hardworking folks where pickup trucks and four-wheel drives aren’t a luxury, they’re a way of life.
Texas Compared to Other States
Miller points out that states like Indiana and Georgia have already suspended their fuel taxes.
He believes Texas should take similar action, especially given the state’s strong economy and energy leadership.
Economic Pressure on Texas Families
Rising fuel costs don’t just hit drivers, they also affect food prices, deliveries, and everyday essentials across the board.
Miller warns that delaying action could increase the financial strain many Texas families are already feeling.
What Happens Next?
As of now, no official decision has been announced by Governor Abbott regarding a suspension of the fuel tax. Furthermore, it remains as a proposal, but one that could bring immediate relief if fuel taxes are lifted.
