July 4th Celebrations in West and Central Texas

Looking for Fourth of July fun? Any one of these Independence Day celebrations in Texas should do. The best part is that most of these fireworks extravaganzas are free to attend. However, if you want the works (more than just fireworks, so to say) - all the food, music, and festivities - you may have to pay for admission.

As in years past, I'll be broadcasting live from one or more of these July 4th community events. Put on your most comfortable kicks, pack some mosquito repellent, and get ready for some good ol' Independence Day celebration.

ABILENE
For Westex Connect's 24th Annual Fireworks Spectacular at the Abilene Zoo, tickets may be purchased online - and online only - here. Festivities begin on Tuesday, July 4 at 4pm. At 6pm the Dyess Honor Guard will present the US Flag, Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem, and opening prayer. Sharon’s BBQ dinner will be served from 6-8 pm. The evening will include live music, the Big Country 1 Flyover, and a children's fireworks show (ages 3-10, limited to first 100 children). The Fireworks Spectacular begins at 10pm.

ANSON

BUFFALO GAP
Parade at 10am on Tuesday, July 4; meet on Houston Street at 9 am. Call 325-864-8241 for more information or visit the Buffalo Gap Chamber of Commerce. There will not be a fireworks display.

CLYDE
Clyde's Festival by the Lake 2023 will be Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1. Fireworks begin both nights at 10 pm. Cook-off kicks off Friday afternoon, and a cornhole tournament is scheduled for Saturday at 10 am. There will be a cooler charge of $5. The beverage truck Tapville will be selling beer and wine.

TUSCOLA
For a decade, the Tuscola 4th of July Car Show has raised funds for the Jim Ned Volunteer Fire Department. In 2022, the show attracted more than 2500 guests and over 200 vehicle entries. This year's attendees can partake in the car show, music, and barbecue on Tuesday, July 4. The day ends with fireworks provided by the City of Tuscola.

SAN ANGELO
For a Star-Spangled Banner Fireworks & Show, visit the Bill Aylor Sr. Memorial RiverStage on Monday, July 3. The evening's musical lineup begins at 7 pm with Lake View High School's award-winning Mariachi Band. Fireworks are scheduled for 9:20 pm.

On Tuesday, July 4, watch the Lake Nasworthy fireworks show at Spring Creek Marina. Gates open at 6 pm, Live 80! music begins at 7 pm. BYOB and your own lawn chair. For information on tickets, click here.

SWEETWATER
Sparks in the Park at Newman Park will bring the community together to celebrate on Tuesday, July 4. Food and festivities will be available, and fireworks begin at dark.

ROSCOE
Parade at 10 am, and live music and street dance at 5 pm on Saturday, July 1. Fireworks begin at dark. For more information on Everything Roscoe, click here.

BRECKENRIDGE
Celebrate Boomfest at Hubbard Creek Lake on Saturday, July 1. Fireworks begin at 9 pm.

HASKELL
Gather by the boat ramp on Veda's Camp Road at 7:30 pm on Saturday, July 1, for fireworks and music by South of Mayhem.

ODESSA
The Firecracker Fandango will be Saturday, July 1, from 6-10 pm in downtown Odessa. This year's event is free to the public.

WEATHERFORD
Pat Green will be headlining Weatherford's Spark in the Park on Tuesday, July 4, from 6-10 pm at Heritage Park Amphitheater. Fireworks begin at sundown. This event is free.
