While we all wait for the government to make a decision on a second stimulus check, scam artists are working hard at taking advantage of us.

The IRS is warning people about a fake government stimulus offer being used by scammers to get access to your personal information.

The text message is reported to say

You have received a direct deposit of $1,200 from Covid-19 Treas (SIC) Fund. Further action is required to accept this payment into your account.

You are then instructed to click a link to finalize the claim to "your" money.

The link reportedly takes you to a fake IRS website which will ask you to enter personal and financial account information.

One thing you should always look out for, is all official government websites end in .gov.

These websites cannot be faked, so if you're sent to a site like irs.com.

It is not real and needs to be reported.
