It's been three years; are you ready for new music from Gretchen Wilson? You're in luck. Her new record, Ready to Get Rowdy, will hit the streets on June 16 on Redneck Records.

"Listening to this record in its entirety will make you believe good ol' country music hasn't gone anywhere," says Wilson in a press release. "These 12 songs are as 'Gretchen Wilson' as I get. The Redneck is back!"

Ready to Get Rowdy contains 12 songs, all of which Wilson wrote or co-wrote, including her single "Rowdy." For production, she teamed up with Blake Chancey, who has worked on previous projects of Wilson's, and she tapped longtime friend Kid Rock for the bluesy duet "Bad Feeling." (Fans may remember when Rock appeared in Wilson's "Redneck Woman" video along with Hank Williams Jr. in 2004.)

The lead single "Rowdy," released in late 2016, is the first taste of what's to come from Wilson. She views it as her "comeback song."

"I’d been writing for several months, but I knew that I needed that comeback song; I knew that I needed a song that was a statement, almost like an anthem." Wilson reflects to The Boot. "Everybody was a little on the slicker side, a little more of a pop-country thing, and then I came out with "Redneck Woman." That’s why I wanted to lead with something like "Rowdy": I wanted to make the same footprint again."

Wilson concludes, "I wanted to write a lyric that would bring us back to that era and that time, reminiscent of 'Here for the Party' and 'All Jacked Up' and 'Redneck Woman.'"

Thus far, the 43-year-old has scored three No. 1 albums but it hasn't always been smooth sailing; her success in the beginning was quite a shock to Wilson.

“I spent my whole life looking for that moment, but as prepared as I thought I was, I wasn’t,” Wilson tells The Boot. “It happened so fast. I had a major label deal at the time, and I think that they thought that I was the next Shania Twain.”

With a whole lot more experience behind her, the singer will embark on her first nationwide tour in three years. It kicks off Sunday (June 11) and lasts three months. She's "a little nervous" to get back onstage but "craving the live show."

The new album is available for pre-order on iTunes. For more information on Wilson's upcoming tour dates, more, visit her official website.
