2015 Fort Concho Annual Fall Speaker Series Schedule

Fort Concho’s annual fall speaker series during the lunch hour on each of September’s five Wednesdays will feature a wide range of topics, from chuckwagons to bagpipes to the Chisholm Trail.

Admission to the lectures is free. Each presentation is from noon to 1 p.m. in the fort’s Commissary at 702 Burgess St. Attendees are welcome to bring a lunch or can order a sack lunch from Mr. T’s Deli for $8 by calling 325-657-4441 by 5 p.m. the preceding Monday.

This year’s lineup of topics and speakers includes:

•Wednesday, Sept. 9: “No Man’s Land” by local historian John Vaughn.

•Wednesday, Sept. 16: “Bagpipes on the Frontier and in the Military” by Fort Concho Education Director Christopher Morgan.

•Wednesday, Sept. 23: “History of the Chisholm and Western Trail” by Richard Linnartz, historian and owner of the Azalea Plantation Bed & Breakfast Inn in Fort Worth.

•Wednesday, Sept. 30: “History of East Harris Street in San Angelo” by local historian Patsy Eckert.
