A new event for families, each Museum Day will feature special tours, half-price admission, crafts and children’s activities, and living history demonstrations.

Also on Saturday, Fort Concho opens a new exhibit, “What’s Old is New,” showcasing the fort’s most recent acquisitions. Housed in Officers’ Quarters 2, the display will change as new items are received.

In coordination with Museum Day, Rocio Moncibais, the fort’s visitor and volunteer services coordinator, announced the launch of a new Junior Recruit program. The new offering involves a booklet designed to teach children ages 5-12 the fort’s history. Once children complete the required number of activities, they can become a Fort Concho Junior Recruit.

Two additional Museum Days are scheduled on the Saturdays of July 15 and Nov. 18. Admission to the fort and participation in Museum Day is free to all fort members and their families; non-members will be charged half-price admission. Fort membership information and registration cards will be available at the events.
