Florida Georgia Line surprised fans late last week with a two-song digital single featuring a stripped-down, acoustic reinterpretation of a recent album cut plus a fresh take on one of the group's defining hits.

The collection begins with "Talk You Out of It", from 2019's Can't Say I Ain't Country. For fans and those willing to give credit where it's due, such clever comparisons as "you're looking like a line from a Vandross song" shift to the forefront thanks to a stripped-down backing track. The duo is often railed-against for their earworm-driven, radio friendly brand of country music, but the new interpretations of two of their biggest hits highlight their lyrical prowess and flair for an elegant turn of phrase.

An acoustic guitar and banjo mix of "Cruise" rounds things out with a new spin on one of this young century's biggest commercial hits. The song became an inescapable radio smash in 2013 after its 2012 release, and notched a record-setting 24th consecutive week on the Billboard Hot Country Charts during the week of Aug. 24 of that year.

While FGL diehards -- and plenty of more casual listeners, too -- have likely been able to sing along to every word of "Cruise" for the better part of six years, the group's new take on the song provides an earthier perspective. For longtime fans, it probably sounds a little like one of your own front porch or campfire sing-alongs.

Florida Georgia Line's Can't Say I Ain't Country Tour begins in July, and features supporting acts Dan + Shay, Morgan Wallen and, on select dates, Canaan Smith and Hardy.
