Farmer’s Market Melon Fest is Saturday!
The Concho Valley Farmers Market celebrates its annual Melon Fest – featuring a bumper crop of cantaloupes and red- and yellow-meat watermelons – from 7 a.m. until the produce is gone this Saturday, Aug. 2 under the Farmers Market Pavilion at 609 S. Oakes St., across from Fort Concho.Many of the vendors, who come from a 75-mile radius around San Angelo, will be offering locally grown melons for sale during the event, along with other seasonal fruits, vegetables and plants. Additionally, there will be live music, door prizes consisting of free melons and other produce, and approximately 30 vendors.
The Farmers Market conducts sales each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from the spring through the fall. The selection includes peppers, okra, squash, zucchini, greens, herbs, onions, leeks, garlic, peas, cucumbers, beans, eggplants, pecans, goat cheese, native Texas plants, plus more.
