It looks like the allure of free tacos, donuts and beer is not working when it comes to people getting a COVID shot.

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden said his administration will push for door to door vaccines to combat Corona virus cases.

Faced with a steep decline in vaccination rates, President Biden said on Tuesday that his administration would send people door to door, set up clinics at workplaces and urge employers to offer paid time off as part of a renewed push to reach tens of millions of unvaccinated Americans.

The call for the door to door push is in response to a new variant that has increased the number of COVID cases in certain areas of the country.

Case numbers have gone up in parts of the country where vaccination rates remain low, fueled by the highly contagious Delta variant. That has some public health officials worried that the administration is not being aggressive enough in waging what the president calls a “wartime effort” to ensure that the population of the United States is protected.

If you ask me, this push by the president sounds scary. If we send government officials door to door across the country and even here in San Angelo, will they only be vaccinating people?

Will they be asking other questions? Will you be required to invite them into your home? Will they want to know if you have guns in your house? Who knows what else they will want to know about you?

Do we really want the government going door to door harassing Americans requiring them to get a COVID shot? I thought getting a shot was a choice. Is it not "my body, my choice" as they say?

We'd like to know what you think. Do you want people with syringes knocking on your door? Does this border on harassment from the government? Let us know on Facebook or chat with us on our station app.
