The world of technology is ever-changing. With that in mind, the Dyson Vacuum Cleaner company is now offering headphones.  Yes, THAT Dyson. Remember the ads where they implored us to "put the power of an upright in your hand"?

So, it seems a little out of character that Dyson's latest product is headphones, but not just headphones, headphones with a built in wearable air purifier.  What?  According to Dyson, these new headphones, called "The Zone", serve two purposes.  One, they are noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones with superior sound quality. Two, they have air purification technology built in, thanks to this futuristic magnetic face visor.

The goal of "The Zone", according to Dyson's website, is to make living in crowded spaces more comfortable by attempting to mitigate both noise and air pollution.  SO, Where were these during Covid-19's height?   Although Dyson says "The Zone" filters out 99% of particle pollution, they do not prevent any disease.

These headphones seem to make a statement.  Not sure exactly what that statement is.  Perhaps, it's "you stink".  I'm sure our friends in Amarillo and North San Angelo, who live near the stockyards have often thought to themselves on hot stinky August nights: "Wow I wish I could enjoy some great music without having to smell cow poop."

Of course, it is allergy season in West Texas.  Many of the worst hay fever sufferers have never heard their favorite songs without the occasional sound of sniffles and coughing.

These headphones are not without their problems.  First, they're heavy.  Second, the sound of their whirring compressors can still be heard when on high.  So, they're not completely "noise cancelling"

So is this something we need in San Angelo?  These might be perfect for people who live in homes with only one bathroom. Or, people who want to enjoy some me time while listening to  their favorite jams, while in a porta potty.
