Colt Ford’s ‘We the People’ Album Features Michael Ray, Jimmie Allen + More

Colt Ford has officially released the details of his forthcoming new album, We the People Volume 1, and the project's track list is jam-packed with familiar names. Earlier in August, fans got their first taste of the group of team-ups when Ford shared "Slow Ride," a duet with Mitchell Tenpenny. Now, it seems that that collaboration is only the beginning.

We the People Volume 1's fourth track, "Back to Them Backroads," will include an appearance from fellow country star Jimmie Allen, while the following track, "Red White Blue & Blessed" features Walker Montgomery.  That's not all: "Nightcap" is a collaboration with Michael Ray, and was also co-written by Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelly of Florida Georgia Line, alongside Russell Dickerson and songwriters David Garcia and Josh Miller. Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry makes an appearance on a track called "Lucky Scars," too, and David Lee Murphy is listed as a writer on one of the album's few solo songs.

Furthermore, it's not just mainstream country stars who find a place on Ford's new project. Folk artist Larry Fleet makes an appearance on a song called "Cooter Brown" (which was co-written by country star Morgan Wallen, among others), and bluegrass legend Dan Tyminski rounds out the bunch, appearing in not one but two songs on We the People Volume 1. 

In a press release, Ford says he went into making his newest record intending to toss aside any preconceived notions about how to make a country album. "Making this one, I went back to the beginning when I really didn't know any better," the singer says in a press release. "I didn't let anybody tell me the rules or say, 'You can't do this; you've got to do that.' Instead, I let the feeling of the songs guide me. The record reignited my passion for playing and making music. My music transcends politics, religion and rules. That's what this whole project is about."

We the People Volume 1 is due out on Sept. 20. For a full track list, see below.
