Brett Young has released a bittersweet cover of his buddy Gavin DeGraw's 2011 hit single, "Not Over You." Readers can press play below to hear a clip of the tune, which was released as part of the Spotify Singles program, and comes complete with Young's trademark emotional delivery and musical affinity for heartbreak.

longtime fan before he met and became friends with DeGraw, Young got the pinch-me moment of his life when one of his musical idols signed on to contribute to his latest album, Ticket to LADeGraw both co-wrote and provided vocals for "Chapters," and Young says DeGraw agreed to the collaboration on the condition that the song tell the story of Young's journey through life and into music.

Now, Young takes his fandom to the next level with a soulful cover of "Not Over You," the No. 1 Adult Top 40 hit that DeGraw wrote with One Republic's Ryan Tedder. "If you ask me how I'm doing / I will say I'm doing just fine / I will lie and say that you're not on my mind / But I go out and I sit down / At a table set for two / And finally I'm forced to face the truth / That no matter what I say, I'm not over you," Young croons in the song.

The lyrics are a good fit for Young, who has mastered the art of the tragic breakup song, but he trades up DeGraw's heavy piano-driven backdrop for rich guitar instrumentation.

Young is set to hit the road with Kelsea Ballerini as a guest on her 2019 Miss Me More Tour. The run kicks off in April.
