Ballinger Man Wins 1 Million Dollars

Benedict Hoelscher, of Ballinger, claimed a $1 million prize in the Texas Lottery® scratch ticket game $1,000,000 Instant Cashout.

For selling the winning ticket, Hoelscher Liquor, located at 120 FM 381 in Rowena, is eligible for a $10,000 retailer bonus.

“My son was visiting from Lubbock, and when I got home I walked in and asked my wife and son if I looked any different, if I looked like a millionaire. I gave my wife the ticket and she couldn’t believe it,” said Hoelscher when asked what happened when he found out he won.

Hoelscher claimed the sixth of six prizes worth $1 million available in the game. $1,000,000 Instant Cashout offers more than $91.5 million in prizes. Overall odds of winning any prize in the game are one in 3.05, including break-even prizes.

Hoelscher plans to use his prize to help his son and grandson.

“I was planning on building a shed anyway. I’ve also been planning on selling the store. Maybe I’ll do a little bit of traveling,” said Hoelscher.
