This performance will introduce San Angelo to new things happening at Ballet San Angelo! Choreography by their new Artistic Director, Sandra Miller, and other new staff will be featured as well as a piece by guest artist Bernard Gaddis, Founder of Las Vegas Contemporary Ballet Theater, and juried original student works. Both contemporary and classical movement will be featured throughout the production May 12th and 13th at 8:00p.m. in the Brooks and Bates Theater at the Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Director’s Choice is dedicated to introducing patrons to BSA’s staff and students. Pieces of choreography from new Artistic Director, Sandra Miller, Ballet Mistress, Ariana Myers, and Assistant Artistic Director and Ballet San Angelo Alum, Erin Lane will make up the main show with each of these creators bringing something unique in their individual movement styles and talents.

Also featured will be a piece by Las Vegas Contemporary Ballet Theater’s Founder and Artistic Director, Bernard Gaddis, who came to San Angelo in January. Ballet San Angelo often brings in outside artists to San Angelo and will use Gaddis’ piece to introduce the community to this tradition. Interspersed among these four main choreographers will be juried student work.

Twelve of BSA’s upper level students have been creating their own original works this semester and are setting this choreography on fellow students. The students will present their works to a panel of judges on April 22nd and six will be chosen to go onstage as a part of Director’s Choice. This process encourages the students to grow in both their creativity and their art form as well as encouraging personal growth in leadership, organization, and presentation skills.

Beyond the performance, BSA will be partnering with students from the Angelo State University's Art Department to introduce their works to those who come to see the show. Uniquely selected works will be featured around the beautiful lobby and mezzanine of the Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Tickets for this production are $30 for premium and $25 for regular, and can be purchased online at www.balletsanangelo.org, at the Stephen’s Performing Arts Center Box Office at 82 Gillis St, or by calling 325-284-3825.
