Bailey Ingle, 'In Love With the Memories' Music Video [Premiere]

Singer-songwriter Bailey Ingle is premiering the music video for her debut single "In Love With the Memories" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play above to watch.

In her new music video, directed by Jeremy Ryan, Ingle watches memories of a relationship that's fallen apart on what looks like a video screen. Shadowy figures appear in the various stages of that love — good dates, sharing holidays and taking selfies together — which encapsulates the song's theme of being in love with the idea of a person or the experiences you've had together, and not necessarily still wanting to be with that person.

"I'm wishing for a shot in the dark / Something that will save me from this broken heart / Everything we used to do is now a sad, sad shade of blue / Drivin' around late, makin' mistakes / Dinner for two in the back booth," Ingle sings in the chorus. "I'm more in love with the memories than the man right in front of me."

"We wanted the memories to almost be rushing through my mind as if I'm reliving all of them in a dream," Ingle tells The Boot. "[Ryan] introduced me to the idea and, I'll admit, I was a bit curious as to how it would play out. However, he brought all of my dreams to life, and I couldn’t be happier with the end result!”

"In Love With the Memories" is a strong, pop-inflected country song, recalling '90s hitmaker Faith Hill and contemporary artists such as Kelsea Ballerini and Cassadee Pope. Ingle recorded "In Love With the Memories," produced by Widespread Panic's Dave Schools, at the iconic Cash Cabin Studio, where Johnny and June Carter Cash recorded together.

""In Love With the Memories" is, what I would consider, the perfect anthem for someone that feels like they’re caught in the middle," Ingle says. "For someone who knows they’ve fallen out of love, but is still attached to the way they once felt and all of the memories they’ve shared.”

A native of Alabama, 19-year-old Ingle first earned acclaim after singing "We Were Us" alongside country superstar Keith Urban at a 2014 tour stop. Since moving to Nashville, she's co-written with a dozen established songwriters.

“Growing up in Hoover, Ala., becoming a musician didn’t seem that realistic,” Ingle says. “The night I stepped onstage with Keith Urban, though, I realized that I didn’t care how unrealistic it was because it’s what I’m meant to do. I learned my true purpose on that stage.”
