Wanted Robbery Suspect Arrested
Wanted Robbery suspect Joe Anthony Castro (AKA Joe Anthony Dill) was arrested Saturday evening after a brief foot chase in North San Angelo.On September 6, 2014, just after 6:30 p.m., San Angelo Police Officer C. Barker was patrolling the unit block of W. 11th Street when he observed a man in the south alley. The man resembled Castro, who was wanted for several outstanding warrants.
Officer Barker attempted to make contact with the man to confirm his suspicion, but as soon as he approached, the man ran off and a brief foot pursuit ensued.
Officer Barker pursued the man to Chadbourne Street where he was taken into custody and positively identified as Castro. During a search of Castro, officers located drug paraphernalia.
Castro was charged with Evading Arrest Detention, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and his three outstanding County Warrants for MTR Robbery, Failure to Appear, and Public Intoxication.
Castro was transported to the Tom Green County Jail after telling police he knew he was wanted. Castro also requested that officers remove his Wanted Poster from the police department’s Facebook page. The Wanted Poster was published on August 6, 2014.
San Angelo Police compromised on the request by posting an updated poster that reflects Castro’s status.
