Texas Southwest Council has a New Scout Executive
The Texas Southwest Council welcomes Devin D. Koehler, CFRE as the new Scout Executive/ CEO, effective November 1 2015.
Devin comes from the Sam Houston Area Council Houston as a 15 year veteran of the professional movement with Scouting involvement since 1987.
As a youth member in New Braunfels, Texas he earned the Arrow of Light, Eagle Scout and the William T. Hornaday Conservation Award. He has also completed Woodbadge, the Commissioner's Arrowhead, Scouter's Key, and Doctorate of Commissioner Science. Devin is a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow and a James E. West Fellow.
After graduating from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas he began working for the Conquistador Council in Hobbs, New Mexico as a District Executive. In March of 2006, he was promoted to Field Director of the Concho Valley Council.
In January 2011 he was promoted to Senior Development Director of Endowment and Planned Giving for the Sam Houston Area Council. Outside of Scouting Devin Enjoys RVing, hunting, photography, kayaking and spending time with his wife Deon and their four sons.
The Texas Southwest Council serves 1,600 young people in 23 ½ counties across southwest Texas. More than 58% of the kids served live at or are below poverty guidelines and 49% are minority. More than 700 adults volunteer their time to deliver Scouting. In 2014, there were 29 young men who earned the rank of Eagle Scout and over 19,000hours of service were provided to communities through the work of Scouts.
