A Houston-area man was fed up with cars speeding down his street, so he put two stop signs up in front of his house.

KUSA reports that Kurt Smith was fed up with cars speeding by his house, so he put the two signs up in front of his house. He told reporters he was sick of seeing the people speeding, especially since there are so many kids in the neighborhood.

The signs, which were placed illegally, only lasted one day before sheriff's deputies took them down.

Apparently, this isn't the first time that Smith has put up signs. He started by putting up "slow down" safety signs that seemed to be working according to other neighbors.

Smith knows he could be in trouble, but he figures it's worth it if he can prevent an accident. So far, he has not been charged with a crime for putting up the signs.
