Angelo State University’s Houston Harte University Center has been designated one of the nation's “25 Best Student Union Centers" by CollegeRank.net, an education resource guide that ranks both academic programs and various aspects of non-academic student life on the nation’s college campuses.

Four Angelo State University staff members – Tom Nurre Jr., Drexene Winey, Andrea Robledo and Michelle Norris – have earned the 2016 President’s Awards for Staff Excellence, and another – Sharla Adam – has received the annual Chancellor’s Colonel Rowan Award for Execution.

Angelo State University art/graphic design major Allison Romo of Hereford has been awarded the top prize in the 2016 University Symposium Student Contest that is conducted each year in conjunction with ASU’s E. James Holland University Symposium on American Values.

Peyton LaBauve, a senior biology major at Angelo State University and president of the ASU Student Government Association, received the 2016-17 Student Government Student Leader of the Year Award at the 36th annual Conference on Student Government Associations held Feb. 25-27 at Texas A&M University.

Angelo State University’s online Bachelor of Security Studies degree program in border and homeland security has been ranked among the nation’s “Top 50 Best Value Online Bachelor’s of Homeland Security and Emergency Management” for 2017 by the ValueColleges.com higher education resource guide.

The James A. “Buddy” Davidson Charitable Foundation of Midland has awarded a grant of 1 million dollars to Angelo State University to establish a new endowed chair position in the Department of Physical Therapy, a component of ASU’s Archer College of Health and Human Services.

In 1971, racial tensions ran high in Alexandria, Virginia, as three schools were integrated to form T.C. Williams High School.

Angelo State University will host the 2017 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for Region 6 on March 1-4 at various venues on campus, including the ASU Auditorium, Modular Theatre and C.J. Davidson Conference Center.
