Angelo State University will present a master class by acclaimed trumpet performer and teacher Vicente Campos on Monday, Feb. 27, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building 2602 Dena Drive.

The master class will begin at 1 p.m. in the EFA Building’s Eldon Black Recital Hall and is open free to the public. Campos will give a presentation on his musical craft and instruct ASU students in trumpet performance. Music enthusiasts of all ages are invited to attend.

A native of Valencia, Spain, Campos is the principal trumpet soloist for the Valencia Symphonic Orchestra and professor/headmaster of the Superior Music Conservatory of Castellòn. He is also the soloist of the ensemble Grup Instrumental, in which he received the 2005 National Prize of Music, and the Valencia Brass Quintet. He frequently collaborates with the Collegium Instrumentale and has released several CDs as a soloist, including his recording of the “Concerti Accademici” by Francisco José de Castro.

Prior to his master class at ASU, Campos will present a free public recital on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in downtown San Angelo. He will be accompanied on organ by Maestro Hector Guzman, conductor of the San Angelo Symphony Orchestra. For more details, call the church office at 325-655-8981.
