The replacement of a downtown sewer line near the Concho River should not impact this Thursday’s annual July 3 Pops Concert at the RiverStage.
However, as the project nears its midway point, access to some areas in the vicinity will be blocked or limited.

Beginning this Tuesday, July 1, Randolph Street between Veterans Memorial Drive and Concho Avenue will be closed intermittently for approximately two months. Access to businesses that front Randolph and Concho, such as the YMCA, will be best accessed via Concho.

The Abe Street ramp between Santa Fe Park and Veterans Memorial drives will be closed intermittently beginning Monday, July 7, as temporary facilities are installed. The parking lot to Kids’ Kingdom playground will also be partially blocked for construction for about eight weeks, beginning Monday, July 7.

The parking lot of The Bosque games court area at the river and Irving Street will remain partially closed as construction continues in the area. Irving between Veterans Memorial Drive and Concho Avenue is scheduled to fully reopen to traffic on Thursday, July 3.

The downtown skate park at 100 W. Veterans Memorial Drive remains closed. Skateboarders, rollerbladers and roller skaters are encouraged to use the City skate park at Kirby Community Park, 1401 Edmund Blvd., in the interim.

You are urged to use caution when driving, walking or jogging in these areas and to adhere to posted traffic signs.

The sewer line replacement project is expected to be completed in September.
