SAPD Update to Aggravated Assault Investigation

Detectives with the San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division arrested two men in connection to Tuesday morning’s shooting incident on Antonio and Monterrey Streets.

19-year-old Martin Brandon Pena has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Assault MV Discharging Firearm Habitation/Building/Vehicle Serious Bodily Injury.  21-Year-old Jesse Baca has been charged with Aggravated Assault MV Discharging Firearm Habitation/Building/Vehicle Serious Bodily Injury.  The men were located yesterday afternoon and charged following their interviews with the detectives.

Following the initial incident, members of the Department’s Criminal Investigations, Street Crimes, and Patrol Divisions developed Pena and Baca as the suspects in the shooting.  During the investigation, Police learned that following the initial incident, the pair was involved in a drive-by shooting of a residence in the 1100 block of E. 19^th Street.  No injuries were reported from the second shooting, which Investigators determined was retaliation to the first incident.  The intended victim is a 19-year-old San Angelo man.
