San Angelo Police arrested a 17-year-old man Monday after he assaulted an elderly family member, stole a vehicle, fled from Officers, and crashed into a house in north San Angelo.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 1900 block of Brown Street around 10:30 a.m. Monday for the report of an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  Once on scene, Officers located a 67-year-old man with visible injuries to his face. Officers learned the victim was assaulted by Roy Edward Munoz, who reportedly stole the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene.  The victim was treated at the scene by Fire Department Medics.

While on scene, Officers observed Munoz driving by.  A vehicle pursuit ensued to the area of 23rd Street and Weaver Street where Munoz drove into a yard and collided with a parked vehicle.  Munoz continued to flee inside the vehicle for a short distance until he jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot.  The unoccupied vehicle continued traveling until it collided into a brick mailbox and the garage portion of a residence located in the 2300 block of Weaver, causing several thousand dollars in damages.

A perimeter was quickly established and Munoz was located and taken into custody in the 2400 block of Weaver.  During a search of Munoz incident to his arrest, Officers located marijuana.

Munoz was charged with Injury to Elderly/Bodily Injury, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle, Class B Possession of Marijuana, and two outstanding warrants for Theft of a Firearm and Theft of Property.

No one was injured during the pursuit.
