The Friends of the San Angelo State Park and the San Angelo State Park employees will host the Silver Bluebonnet Day at the South Gate Chaparral Pavilion on FM 2288, this Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 9 AM to 1 PM for senior citizens.

This yearly event is a free day to give our seniors an opportunity to come out to the State Park to relax and learn about our 8,000 acre park. There will be tours to see the Bison and Texas Longhorn Herd, learn about their history. Learn about native plants, critters in the area and about volunteer opportunities. There will be other educational displays and entertainment, and to round off the outdoor event there will be a free picnic lunch provided.

The Friends group has been instrumental in numerous improvements at the State Park, roll down curtains at the North and South pavilions, birding blind, corrals at the Equestrian campgrounds on the North side, ongoing improvements to the Amphitheater on the South side and assist the Park with supplies and materials as needed.
