San Angelo Police Respond to Shots Fired Call at Comfort Suites
Sunday, October 4, 2015, at 9:07 am, San Angelo Police responded to a call at the Comfort Suites, 4450 Houston Harte, about gunshots being fired in room 108. When Police arrived, they observed bullet holes in the door of room 108. It was unknown how many people were in the room or if anyone was injured. The hotel was evacuated and a perimeter established around the room.
Officers attempted to make contact with anyone in the room by phone, but they were not successful. The San Angelo Police SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were contacted and responded to the hotel. While these teams were arriving on scene, Officers in the hallway near room 108 could hear a male subject talking inside. Officers started to give the male subject commands to exit the room unarmed. The male subject complied with the orders and was taken into custody without incident. The male subject as identified as 47 year old Mateo Flores. There was no one else in the room with Flores.
Flores has been charged with Deadly Conduct. It was also learned, Flores is a convicted felon. He was also charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Other charges against Flores are possible pending further investigation.
